Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2008
My comment isnt on this recipe in particular, just a tip on brining in general. Last year I brined for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, it they were the best birds Ive ever had. My tip is this.....place bird in an oven roasting bag with brine ingredients, then place in a cooler with ice. Slosh the bag around several times during the marinating process. This clears up MUCH needed refrigerator space during the crunch time before cooking!

Wine Jelly

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2008
I have officially died and gone to heaven. I have been wanting to make this for several weeks, and I could kick myself for waiting for so long! Used a VERY cheap Blackberry Merlot (on sale for 3.88 with tax). I'm excited to see what other flavors I can come up with! This doesnt taste wine-y at all. Just nice and fruity!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Tangy Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2008
Very good flavor. I made this for my son to pack in his school lunch and for me to take to work. It reheats wonderfully. Served with rice, the sauce is perfect. I only cooked it for about 5 hours though after reading other comments about others burning, it came out just right. I may add some red peppers to it next time for a little more kick. Very good, will be making again!!

Easter Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2008
Mmmm so good and easy! I precooked the bacon and hasbrowns to cut down on baking time. I made a "crust" with the hashbrowns instead of putting them into the mixture. I added a little more cheese, just becasue I LOVE cheese. I am looking forward to preparing this for guests!

Best Ziti Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2008
This was good, I added cilantro to the marinara while it was on the stove. This gave it a little extra flavor. I think that next time I may add some onions and garlic also. I only cooked for about 30 minutes. Very good dish, I look forward to leftovers tomorrow!

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
I made this for our weekly poker party last night. Served it with toasted baguette bread from the "day old" rack at Walmart. Everyone loved it! The only change I made was to add a generous splash of pepper sauce. It really seemed to bring out the flavor and cut back on the richness of the cream cheese.

I've also made this many times. I like to add powdered crystal light drink mix, so the flavor varieties are endless. My 10 year old daughter is the hit of the lunch table when I send this in her lunch! The grown ups at work love it too!!
