San Diego, California

Sitting in the southwest corner of the state, San Diego is where California began, originally claimed in the name of Spain by Portuguese explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. With an average annual temperature of just over 70 degrees, everyday is a good day for a trip to the beach or a farmer’s market. The beaches are everywhere and you are likely to find a market somewhere just about any day of the week—and year-round, no less. The city’s restaurants offer everything from casual takeout to four-star dining, with the fish taco as the local favorite. You haven’t truly experienced eating in San Diego if you haven’t enjoyed one of their deep fried, battered fish wrapped in a corn tortilla with cabbage and sauce.

About me:
I love to cook. If I had the opportunity, I would love to go back to school and study the culinary arts, but until then I'm the professional chef of my own kitchen. I cook pratically all of the meals at home to the comfort and enjoyment of my husband, daughter and all of my pets (I have 2 dogs, 2 cats and an aquarium). When I'm in the kitchen you'll always find my dogs laying around nearby hoping to catch anything that falls on the floor. Gotta watch out though...hehe...I've tripped over them several times.

Sensational Steak Sandwich

Reviewed on Nov. 19, 2008 by happywife05
This was actually really good...I omitted the mushrooms and onions for personal taste...the only thing I would do differently would be to add the peppers just before serving, instead of adding them to the crock pot. They became too soft and soggy.

Chili Mac Casserole

Reviewed on Nov. 18, 2008 by TRIPLEJ28
This was an easy, good homey dish. After reading other reviews i too added more cumin and chili powder, plus a few dashes of tabasco and some lemon juice, which I have found brightens anything made with tomato. I stirred about 2 c cheese into the whole mixture, and then topped it with more cheese before baking. It came out like a spicy mac and cheese.

Chocolate Cookie Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed on Nov. 18, 2008 by TRICIA JAEGER
I made this to frost "Butter Cake" from this site. I had to add more milk/cream to make it more of a frosting consitancy. This cake was one layer of a 9x9 so if you have a bigger cake to frost double the recipe.
