Community home page
We have made it easier than ever to locate your favorite home cooks to see what they are cooking! The Community section of the
website has been divided by location and by individual home cooks.
To get to the Allrecipes Community section, click on Recipe Exchange at the top of any page, and then click on the Home tab.
How do I search for a specific location?
There are three ways you can search for a specific location.
- Use the column on the left side of the page
- Click on the specific region of the map
- Use the Find a Location box
What do the tabs mean?
- The Cooks tab will produce a list view of all of the Cooks’ Profiles for a specific location. The View All, Newest,
Top Reviewers, Top Recipe Submitters, and Top Photo Submitters links are all representative of a specific location on the site.
- The Reviews tab lists the latest Recipe Reviews posted by a location. You will be able to view the Rating and Reviews and
a thumbnail description of the Reviewer. Click on the My Profile link to see more from this Reviewer. Please keep in mind some
Reviewers might not have a Cook’s Profile.
- The Photos tab displays the photos submitted by location. The View All will show all the photos. The Newest link displays
the most recently submitted photos. The Recipe link displays only the recipe photos while the Personal link displays the
personal photos. Please note the photos are listed by date posted.
- Each photo displayed will include a link to the Recipes along with links to see more by this submitter.
- The Recipes tab includes all the published recipes for a specific location including the Highest Rated, Published, Latest
Reviewed, and Recently Saved by location.
- The More tab includes the Menus and Favorite Foods list published by location.
- Both Menus and Lists will include a link to the Recipes along with links to see more by this submitter.
Why is my location not listed?
Our goal is to have as many locations listed within our Community section as possible; however, we need at least five
active cooks (i.e. five Allrecipes users with 40% of their Cooks’ Profiles completed) from a specific place in order
to create a separate page for that location. But also know that active cooks will show up simultaneously under locations
within locations, so while you may not be listed under your city, for instance, you’ll likely be listed under your state
or country.
If you want to make sure your location gets listed, here’s your chance: tell fellow home cooks in your town to help put
you on the Allrecipes map by creating their own Cook’s Profile!
Location Photos and Descriptions
We need your help! We would love to have a photo and a description for every city in the world, but we just can’t
keep up with the demand. Send us a photo and/or a description of the local cuisine and the town or city where you live, where
you’re from, or where you’ve been. Your photo and/or descriptions will be submitted for publication for that
location’s home page.
Here’s how you can send us your photo and/or description:
Photo
- Click on the Send Us Your Photo link to generate an email. The email will have a pre-populated subject line for the city
of your photo and/or description.
- Please be sure the digital picture you submit is already stored on your computer and the photos are in one of the
following file formats: jpg/jpeg, gif, PNG, tif/tiff, or bmp.
- The ideal size for the photo is 140 pixels wide x 140 pixels high; however you may submit a larger image.
- Once you are finished click Send.
- For general photo submission questions, please view the Photos FAQs.
Description
- Click on the Cuisine Description Request link to generate an email. The email will have a pre-populated subject line for
the city of your photo and/or description. Please type a description of the cuisine and town and city in the body of the email
and once you are finished click Send.
- For the description, there is a 1,000 character limit, about 180 words.
Please note: The photo and/or description will not go in your Cook’s Profile, nor will you be able to view it in your
My Allrecipes account.
Terms:
- By submitting this photo and/or description you agree to the following: Photo and/or description are your own: You
acknowledge and represent the Photo and/or description you submit is your own photo and/or description and has not been copied

How do I request a recipe?
We have more than 40,000 recipes on Allrecipes, and you can find them by using several different search methods. Please
view the Finding Recipes FAQs for help on using the search tool.
If you can’t find the recipe you want, you can post a recipe request. To submit a recipe request, click on the Recipe
Exchange link at the top of any page. Click on the Request a Recipe link in the top right corner of the page and fill out the
form and click Post.
To find out if your recipe request has been answered, view your request in the list or log in to My Allrecipes, click on
Shared Items, and click My Recipe Requests.
How do I recommend a recipe?
To recommend a recipe, please click on the Recommend a Recipe link located at the bottom of every Recipe Request. Please
fill out the form and select the recipe you wish to recommend from your Clipboard listed in Step 2. Once you have completed
the form, please click Post.
How do I submit a recipe for publication on Allrecipes?
Before submitting a recipe, we encourage you to take the time to search the site to see if an identical recipe is already
listed. This can save you the trouble of submitting a duplicate recipe that cannot be published.
To submit a recipe for publication on Allrecipes click on Recipe Exchange at the top of any page, then click on the Home tab.
Click on the Share a Recipe link on the left side of the screen. From there you will be brought to a page highlighting the
Most Wanted Recipes Allrecipes seeks to publish and specific Recipe Requests.
To submit a recipe, please click on one of the Submit a Recipe links. Follow the prompts to enter your recipe, and be sure to
read the agreement at the bottom of the page before you click Submit.
Unfortunately, we cannot accept submissions via e-mail. Using the submission form enters the recipes directly into the
editorial database.
Please note submitting a recipe does not post it to our site. Each recipe goes through an editorial process, and accepted
recipes are posted on a seasonal basis; it can sometimes take several months to post a recipe. Please know while not every
recipe is posted, we do value each recipe submission. Every recipe is stored in our database for possible future inclusion on
the site.
Submitting a recipe rating and review
You can rate and review a recipe by clicking on the Rate/Review this recipe link on the right side of the recipe
page. You can also rate and review recipes from your Recipe Box. Select the Rate it link to the right of the recipe
title in your Recipe Box. To rate and review recipes, you must be a registered Allrecipes member. You can register for a free
online Recipe Box by clicking on the New User? link in the upper right corner of the recipe page. Reviews might take
up to four hours to be posted live to the site. Please note: Members may post up to 25 new reviews each day.
Allrecipes standards for recipe reviews
The reviews on Allrecipes are a valuable resource to our community: they indicate whether members and their families are
happy or dissatisfied with a recipe. Reviews are monitored by our staff on a daily basis. We ask our members keep the reviews
focused on the actual cooking and eating experience related to specific recipes. Links to other sites, comments about other
reviewers, and reviews written by someone who has not actually made or tasted the recipe may be edited or deleted. Not all bad
reviews are deleted: they are just as valuable as the positive reviews, and most are allowed to stand as long as the language
is appropriate. If you come across an inappropriate review, please report it to the staff.
Submitting a Meal Idea
Meal Ideas are a great way to share your successful meals with other Allrecipes home cooks. You can add Allrecipes recipes
